World data base to find out longitudes, latitudes and time zone.

No matter whether used for the sun compass or for a direction calculation on sea or on a private plane: Whenever you need geogrphic longitude and latitudes as well as infomations regarding the time zone of a specific place, GeFinder is a valuable help. However, the programm itself is freeware. In the freeware version you already have more than 1200 places worldwide included. If this is not enough, you can purchase additional databases. These databases are regionally combined so you do not have to pay for something you don’t need and you’re not interested in. However, there is as well a worldwide database with more than 125,000 locations.

The programm as well as the data can be outsourced on a memory medium like SD-cards or memory sticks. Furthermore the programm supports the navigation buttons of the Palm Tungsten.

What you have to do:

Select the country by tapping on the contry name. Tap on the country name to see, if the country data is available on your Handheld or the memory card (the file name is displayed in the title bar). If it is, click on OK to load the country data. Note: In the freeware version you find over 1,200 city locations all over the world. In the commercial database you have more than 125,000.
Choose the City by scrolling or typing the city name on the graffiti field. You see the geographic position and the timezone on the right. Use the navigation keys or the jog dial to scroll within the city list.
If you actually have a daylight saving time, check the yes-checkbox.
If you want to exchange the geographic data of the selected city with other applications (such as the Sun Compass or the Momopad) just tap on the exchange symbol in the title bar (2nd symbol from the right).
